Serial LCD module with chipKIT UNO32 and MAX32 testing result.

The Serial LCD module requires 5V DC supply. ChipKIT boards are 3.3V boards. It means that all the logic voltage is at 3.3V level, but most 5V logic devices are OK with 3.3V level. Still, DC supply must be 5V. chipKIT boards supply 5V on the POWER header.

Physical interface:

chipKIT pin   <--> Serial LCD module
5V            <--> Pin 3
GND           <--> Pin 2
Digital pin 1 <--> Pin 1

Sample sketch for 20x4 Serial LCD module:

  NKC Electronics 20x4 Serial LCD test
 20x4 Serial LCD pinout for UART serial communication
pin 1: RX
pin 2: GND
pin 3: +5V

connect pin1 to Arduino digital pin 1
connect pin2 to Arduino GND
connect pin3 to Arduino +5V

Default communication speed is 9600
